The entire body is crafted from 100% pure White Oak, providing natural, lifelong resistance to insects and rot. We’ve left the finish partially rough to maintain a rugged, rustic aesthetic that looks at home in any backyard, while leaving it "open" for you to add a custom stain or finish if you choose. We recommend pure Tung or Linseed Oil because they are food safe and natural, but any wood finish will do.

The 1st Lieutenant isn't just wood; it’s a feat of chemistry. We treated the surface with our proprietary Omni Armor solution to "petrify" the fibers. This process increases surface durability by 70% and significantly enhances heat, rot, and fire resistance—giving you peace of mind placing hot trays and pans directly onto the surface.

Omni-Armor Petrification - Our unique petrification treatment makes the wood grain stand out, provides maximum durability, and provides heat, rot, and fire resistance (not fire-proof). Omni-Armor is standard for all finished Phokiron furniture, otherwise requested.

Button Fastened Tabletop - The tabletop is fastened to the table skirt using White Oak "buttons" with 2 center points of permanent contact, and 4 points of friction contact. This allows the natural movement of the wood to expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity without putting added stress on the body of the table.

Customization (Optional) - The tabletop and blank faces of the skirt and storage rack may contain burnt-in branding, images, logos, scripture verse, mottos, etc.

BLO (not food-contact safe) - Boiled Linseed Oil makes the grain pop and provides additional durability.

Tung Oil - 100% natural oil finish that makes the grain pop, provided additional durability, and is food safe.

UV Protective Additive (Optional - not food-contact safe) - A UV protective additive can be added to any finish and will enhance the protection of the table from bleaching caused by sunlight.
